To mark the World Investor Week 2021, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) has planned a series of events/initiatives from 4 - 10 October 2021.
A web page devoted exclusively to educate investors and enable them to be more knowledgeable and better informed about investing in the securities market. The webpage will comprise of many user friendly features to provide investors with complete and in-depth information on how to invest wisely, investing tips, financial tools and calculators as well as ways to avoid scams.
The new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Act No. 19 of 2021 came into force in September 2021. With the intention of educating all the regulatees and the general public on the features of the new Act, the SEC has planned virtual fora including panel discussions, media interviews and media releases.
Brochures will also be published to educate the general public on the features of the new SEC Act as well as highlight the new developments in the capital market of Sri Lanka.
The SEC will post notices to the general public on investing tips, alerts as well as topical issues. We will in addition post social media content on how to avoid losses and scams.
We hope to have an investor knowledge quiz on social media to get a basic understanding of investing.
A bell ringing ceremony will be held on 05th October 2021 at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) to promote the significance of the World Investor week.
The SEC together with the CSE will commence a social/print media campaign specifically designed to educate new and existing investors.
Interviews will be conducted through electronic media during the month of October to educate the masses on capital market investing.
