Portugal will hold WIW 2021 from Oct 06, 2021 to Oct 12, 2021

For this year's edition of the WIW Portugal, that will run from the 6 th to the 12th of October, the CMVM is organizing several events throughout the week, with the collaboration of 11 partners comprising financial regulators, financial associations, CFA Society, Euronext Lisbon, the Portuguese Consumer Association and the Confederation of the Portuguese Industry.

In addition to the focus on financial education and investor protection, this year the CMVM decided to have two main themes - the digital capital markets and new realities in investment, namely zero commission platforms, social media as a source of information for investments and link to investment platforms, gamification, non-authorized entities and fraud. We have also decided to dedicate this edition of WIW to young investors and their relation to savings, investments, digital tools, social media and associated risks and rewards. Themes such as ethics, governance, sustainability, and investor education will also be addressed through the week.

The 18 events and three podcasts promoted by the CMVM and each of its partners will take place mostly in digital format, although some will be in hybrid format and can be followed on a dedicated site: Semana Mundial do Investidor (www.smiportugal.pt) and watched live on our Youtube channel .

The WIW2021 Portugal will launch with a conference on “Risks and Opportunities of the Digital Capital Market”, where we will be debating the new digital capital markets, trends and risks as well as how young investors relate and perceive these realities.

Later in the week we will also be organizing, in a hybrid format, a workshop entitled “Risk of Digital Frauds and how Citizens can Protect Themselves” in cooperation with the Coordinator of the Cybercrime Office in the Attorney General's Office.

The session on “Financial Literacy of Portuguese University Students” will also happen in a hybrid format and will focus on the latest edition of the publication “Cadernos do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários” which will be dedicated to the financial literacy of young people, exploring themes such as effective knowledge levels and behavioral biases.

We will be working with the Portuguese National Financial Education Plan (PNFF) to hold two digital events, a webinar in cooperation with the Ministry of Education targeting teachers on “The Importance of Social Media for Youth´s Investment decisions and cryptocurrencies” and a session for high school students from a professional school about “The Digital Channels and their Importance as a Source of Information in Savings and investment decisions”.

All webinars, conferences, debates will be accessible through our dedicated website www.smiportugal.pt and our YouTube channel .

The WIW messages will be disseminated on the CMVM and its 11 partners' social networks, throughout the week.
