SEC Pakistan, as the unified regulator for capital markets, non-banking finance companies, insurance and the corporate sector in Pakistan, is firmly committed to building a robust, inclusive and sustainable ecosystem designed to enhance the market efficiency and ensure investor protection. Accordingly, promoting investors’ education is part of SEC Pakistan’s mandate and in recent years various initiatives have been undertaken to promote financial literacy through various advocacy and capacity building sessions to educate the masses about the opportunities, risks, and benefits of investment in the capital market.

Building on the success of activities carried out under the World Investor Week (WIW) 2023, SEC Pakistan spearheaded the WIW 2024 by coordinating with capital market infrastructure institutions (CMIIs) to ensure a coordinated campaign. The activities started with Gong ceremony on 4 October 2024 at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) titled “Ring the bell for financial literacy”, and was followed by various awareness sessions at National Clearing Company Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), Central Depository Company (CDC) and the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX). The sessions are being held from 4 October to 25 October, across five major cities. Read the list of activities here. Additionally, awareness sessions have been held at various universities.

In addition to the above, the SEC Pakistan, through a specialized Investor Education Department is rolling out a comprehensive and ongoing financial literacy campaign across Pakistan, which includes:

  • Bootcamp on financial literacy for educators;
  • Organizing an all Pakistan Inter-University Content Creation Competition;
  • Partnering with corporate entities to arrange numerous seminars across Pakistan to raise awareness about financial literacy;
  • Hosting financial literacy podcasts on different topics such as savings, investments, corporatization, mutual funds, frauds & scams, etc;
  • Enhancing outreach through active social media engagement.
