Jamaica

Lead Organization: Financial Services Commission

The Financial Services Commission’s (Jamaica) initiatives to commemorate the 2022 World Investor Week include a joint initiative with the Jamaica Stock Exchange during the entire week. Activities during the week will also include other joint initiatives with fellow financial institutions falling under the Ministry of Finance and The Public Service in Jamaica.

The FSC’s flagship youth-focused financial literacy initiative, the Schools’ Financial Education Programme, will also be rolled out during the month of October. Students will be taught about key financial concepts that will assist them in informing sound financial decision making.

Social media campaigns surrounding the non-deposit taking financial sector (private pension, securities, and insurance) will also be a major part of the activities planned for World Investor Week 2022. Radio and television campaigns will also be implemented with refreshed content being aired across major stations and channels to improve the reach of our financial literacy campaign efforts.

These initiatives are aimed at improving the brand resonance and recall of the Financial Services Commission across the island. Additionally, they are intended to inform our stakeholders about the roles and functions of the Commission as well as to share critical information on the non-deposit taking financial sector; in theory and to also report on the performance of each industry.
